I first came to Occupy during the sleepful protest at
Trinity Church. I learned about it by watching it online. We would have cops
come and take our property in the middle of the night. We
were trying to spread awareness. The media always shows the bad part. The NYPD
sent people in to bring out the badness of the group. We were just trying to
spread awareness to help bring change to situations like getting money out of politics and stopping Stop and Frisk. Occupy was for a number of causes that I really believed in.
It’s important because there is a lot of injustice. It’s
important to bring a better world for tomorrow. I wouldn’t want my child to
grow up in the world that we are living in right now. It’s hard to get health
care. It’s hard to live. There’s racial profiling. There are drones flying over
cities 24/7. We have dangerous fracking and tar sands pipelines going in. It’s very good to bring awareness to
those who don’t know what’s going on. The media doesn’t tell you the truth.
They tell you what they want you to hear.
I want a world where freedom is really free. We shouldn’t have
to fight for freedom, for something that is ours. Our constitution has laws in place that are meant to protect our human rights. They shouldn’t be taken away. Politicians are changing things for the worst, not the better. I want it to be
better. I want reform in all states. I don’t want a police state. I want to see
everybody get along. I don’t want to see racism. I don’t want to see police
brutality. I want my kid to live in a better world. I want education. I want
justice for all, not just for the people who’ve got the money. I think the world we're working for will
be a lot more prosperous. We just have to bring more
awareness. There’s always going to be some type of issue that we’re not going
to agree with other people on. People will actually communicate with each other to resolve those differences. People won’t
be so quick to jump off on the wrong end and curse you out. They’ll actually
listen to what you have to say.
