I was at an Occupy education event in Washington Square Park in 2012, and some people were there with some Spectra Pipeline information. I had never heard of the pipeline. I already hated fracking, so I started going to Occupy the Pipeline meetings. I went a few times to the park at the very beginning. I saw amazing energy. For years, I hated how corporations were getting bigger and bigger and just usurping all of people’s rights. I particularly hate what the Supreme Court has done for corporations in the past couple of years, so I thought Occupy was wonderful. I hate it when people say that Occupy is dead. I always say that Occupy is out there doing lots of things. Occupy the Pipeline is a lot of creative, wonderful activists who work very hard. They do flyering. They do education, but they also do theatrical events, which really attract a lot of attention. Then, people ask questions. It’s a good way to educate people.

It’s important for the future. I don’t have any children, but I’m really concerned about other people’s children and their grandchildren. The direction the earth is headed in right now is really sad. I would really love for the United States and the entire world to go renewable. I think we can go renewable if we just commit to it. There are studies out now that show it's possible.  As far as the corporations, I think corporations are not people, and I think people need to have their power back. I think it’s important to be knowledgeable about this stuff and to get active in some way.

I’d like to see a world where people care about each other, where people are not concerned about only their tribe. I want a world where big corporations and big government don’t rule. I want the children to have a better world than I ever did. I think people will be able to use new technologies in a good way, and it would be for the benefit of the earth and all the people in it. I just think that getting beyond the tribal concept is really important. When everyone can join together and make sure everyone in the world has something to eat, it will be a good thing.
