March Against Monsanto, May 25, 2013, Washington Square Park

I saw a lot of posts on my Facebook about the March against Monsanto, and that’s how I became familiar with the demonstration in May 2013. I go to the Institute for Integrated Nutrition, so I’m heavy into health and wellness. Once I saw that there was going to be a march against Monsanto, I said to myself, “I want to be part of this. This is a big deal. This actually speaks to me in volume.” I contacted one of the organizers and got involved right away. I quickly built relationships. I fell in love with it because I felt like I was at home. It’s the first thing I’ve been really excited about in a long time.

I didn’t know much about Occupy when it first happened. It was only after I was introduced to the March against Monsanto and seeing that Occupy was was one of the parent organizers for the march that I started researching what Occupy was about. I knew there were some protests a couple years ago when one of my friends came to the bar I was bartending at and said, “Hey, I just came from Wall Street. There’s a bunch of stuff going on." He was talking about injustice and wanting to make something happen. I was like, “What is wrong with you?” Since I lived in Stanford, I didn’t really get involved because I was in a swirl of my own issues. I was completely out of touch. Once getting involved with the Monsanto march, I was like, “Okay, this is something to look into.”

This is so important because we have this corporate media that just distorts information and puts whatever they want out there to lead the masses into thinking that whatever agenda they are currently pushing is the right way to go. The media and government are feeding us lies and keeping us separate. We have to make sure our voices are heard. We need to assert that we matter as human beings. We need to be protected. If we can’t be protected by the government, then we can protect each other. That’s why we go out and talk about these things. There are so many issues going on that people aren't aware of. A lot of people don't know what's going on with Monsanto and the negative effects of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Then, you have these pharmaceutical companies that just go and create and invent this drug that’s going to mask whatever illness you have, and they make money off of that. Then, the media just throws advertisement after advertisement out there promoting these drugs, among other things. It’s blinding people. When we are out there insisting that our voices be heard, it sends a message. It restores hope in people that we can make a difference, that there’s something more to the story than what these high authorities are putting out there.

I see a lot of things that are wrong with the world. There’s a lot of injustice, and we still have racism in the world. As much as I’d like to focus on what is good, the reality is that there is bad shit happening. As a collective, we all need to stick together and support each other around these issues. I feel people are losing touch with who they really are, with what their role is as human beings in this world. Becoming aware of that is a big step in healing the world. It’s the first step—to be aware of our capability of changing the dynamic of this world and the negativity in this world. When you see negativity like this, it comes down to the individual’s vibrations. Where are these negative thoughts coming from? Going back to yourself and really changing that first thought that comes to mind into being a positive thought will vibrate into a much larger positive attraction where other people will feel it, and then you’ll see the whole world shifting toward vibrating on that.

I envision an evolving, sustainable, fulfilled, happy and enriched world, a world where there is abundance, where people are responsible for their actions, a world where people are honest and open. Those are the things that we on a constant basis should be thinking about. When you honestly think that way, you start to be that way. When you be about it, other people see that. Then, you’ll start doing things that will emulate this vision of the world—openness, honesty, responsibility, abundance, happiness, fulfillment. We need to be active, sustainable, energized and healthy. We need to be healthy overall—mind, body, soul. What’s happy and fulfilling for me is attained differently than for other people. We will all find it in our own way.

Ultimately, that will look like peace for people. It would look pure, clean and healthy. It will be an ecology that’s working and functioning in such a fluid way that you have no choice but to be part of that positive energy and that positive force that’s creating humanity and creating the oxygen we breathe and the love that we share and the beautiful trees that we experience, the clean air that we breathe, the pure water that we drink. These are things that we always crave—our life source. We need this in our lives. When nature is in its natural form, it is happy and fulfilled. That’s how we will end up feeling when we live in that world.

There will be endless amounts of love, endless amounts of abundance, endless amounts of pure, unadulterated beings. We will be happy beings. I think if it were to shift now to that love, people might be reluctant and scared, but that’s something we innately recognize. It just sits well and feels good—that love. That’s ultimately what we seek—happiness and fulfillment. Even the most bitter or corrupt person out there will be receptive to it because that’s what we are ultimately here for. It’s hard to shift somebody's mind who has been through a really terrible upbringing—abusive and convoluted with drugs. It is possible, though. We have to stand up and stick with each other. That’s a universal language right there—that love, that happiness and that fulfillment. You can’t defy it even if you have the worst upbringing or the worst experience. That’s the universal language.

I feel that what we can create is unlimited. Generation upon generation will keep this world growing and evolving. At that level, we can be two places at once. We’re everywhere at that level. We are one. At that point, we’re all one. I think we will create miracles. Miracles happen now, but at that level, everyone is aware of them. There’s a level of awareness at that level that will allow us to reach our highest possibility, more flow and creativity become involved. Who knows what we are able of creating at that vibration. The vision for myself and my desires become attainable, and the connections between me and everyone else will be there. It will be one. It will be beautiful.
