The people at Occupy Wall Street were sorta leaving whatever
they were doing with their lives to make a better world, and I wanted to be a
part of that. We were just trying to get out of Vietnam in the sixties, but
this is a movement about fundamental change starting with ourselves. I wanted
to be part of it. These are the coolest people in the entire world, really
serious, really caring. It’s what everything is about, people connecting for
the purpose of being better and making it better for other people. It’s so
simple. I can’t understand why everyone isn't involved.
My profession is mental health, and we have a society of
dysfunctional families, a dysfunctional society. Kids are unconnected, floating
around. It’s just such an unsafe world to grow up in.
I hope it brings about a world that puts people and
interpersonal relationships first and the quality of those relationships would
come before profits, would come before everything. People need to identify their good selves
by the quality of relationships they have with other people.
